"Will my personality type change over time?"

This is a question I have been asked hundreds of times in the last 29 years of working with personality type in the quick answer is no; that is also the honest answer, although at times one may feel their type has changed.

The reason for feeling like your personality type may have changed is because you have in all likelihood been exposed to use in your non-preferred behaviors quite a bit. This could be because you're working in a job that requires you to use non-preferred behaviors in order to get the job done more rather than less, or you been exposed to some kind of environment and do not have the opportunity to use your preferred behaviors.

Remember personality type is instinctive. In other words while you were's literally being formed in the womb of your mother you were imprinted to prefer certain behaviors over others; however, you will and should use all behaviors.

So, it can be reassuring to know that once you know which of the 16 personality types you are, you will be that type for the rest of your life. It may also be reassuring to know that you will use hundreds of behaviors you do not prefer and that is not necessarily a bad thing unless you use them too much.

Not a New Idea!

Know the Myers-Briggs, or rather what it identifies, which is your preferred set of instinctive behaviors, is not a new idea. People have been talking about the reality of of what personality is, questioning it, researching it, classifying it for nears we can tell almost 3000 years-probably even more!

Here is a link to a website that I think is very interesting that will give you a pretty good idea of the history regarding the development of personality type theory if you're interested:  http://www.businessballs.com/personalitystylesmodels.htm

I also came across this wonderful "info Graphic" of the Myers-Briggs and thought you might enjoy that as well: http://holykaw.alltop.com/myers-briggs-everything-you-want-to-know-infographic

Myers-Briggs and You!

Why are you the way you are?! Is there any reason you prefer some of the things you prefer? The way you see things in the way you go about solving problems is this open to the winds of change or do you have a pattern that you follow?

Well, your personality type holds the answer to the above questions and many more.

This blog is going to be about personality as presented in reflected through the use of the Myers-Briggs personality indicator. We won't be talking too much about the indicator, of course TALK a little bit about it especially for those of you that don't know it.

But the Myers-Briggs personality indicator is just a tool, it is just an instrument. Now it happens to be the most accurate instrument for what it does; however, it is just an instrument.

More important than the instrument, surely, is what it identifies and how we can use what it identifies. And that's what this blog is one of the about.

My name is Ken Meyer and I've been doing this for 29 years and I think I have a few things to say about how your personality type gives you power you probably did not know you had. This blog will be discussing that. This blog will be discussing the ways you can use the power that your personality type gives you and that will range far and wide covering subjects such as how you might interact with your family, friends other loved ones to how you pick a career even how you approach spirituality. We will be covering a wide range of topics. So I hope you stop by from time to time!
